"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things." Philippians 4:8

It's Positive Attitude Month and we're looking at a few ways to improve your outlook and improve your life. Last week, in Part One, we hit on keeping your purpose in mind throughout the journey, remembering to stop and take a breather, finding humor in frustrating moments and, above all, staying thankful! As you're building a better life, here are a few other tools to put in your toolbox...

LEARN TO FALL FORWARD - When you drop the ball...when you royally blow it or even fall to sin, you CAN fall forward. What do I mean by that? You don't have to lose ground or head back to your old ways just because you stumbled. Get up and keep heading in the right direction. If your goal is to eat healthily and you have a piece of cake, it's easy to think Well, I blew it. Might as well have a brownie, a fried donut and some ice cream with a side of fries. No! Enjoy that one piece of cake and then go back to the healthy habits you'd committed to. A fall doesn't mean failure unless you refuse to get up. Don't give up...get up and keep moving forward.

GLEAN THE GOOD - Even if you didn't choose the situation, you can pull something of benefit out of it. Joy isn't caused by some outside force or circumstance. There's no such thing as a perfect day, but even the most frustrating day offers some benefit. In every situation, fulfilling or frustrating, ASK GOD what He wants you to glean from it. Then, choose the good you're receiving even if you didn't choose its mode of delivery.

SAY NO TO NEGATIVITY - You can choose to have a positive outlook or you can choose to think everything's going to always turn out bad. Remember who your Father is and that He wants only good things for you. Minimize exposure to negative influences, whether it be on social media, television or friends who resemble Eyore. If you are the sweet soul with the raincloud over your head or you're not sure how to keep those pesky "woe is me" thoughts at bay,  Start here....

IN ALL THINGS, GRATITUDE - I know this was also in Part One, but it's just too important to only list once.  Gratitude will light a fire in your spirit like nothing else. It will spill over to your family, friends, and coworkers and your gratitude will create an atmosphere of thanksgiving everywhere you go. The world needs it. You need it. Say it... Father, Thank You for _____

Every one of these tips requires you to be an active participant in making change happen. Take ownership of your situation...Even if you didn't cause it, you are responsible for your own response.

It's up to you.
