"I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds."
Psalm 9:1 (NIV)

The leaves have turned colors, a little chill is in the air, and we are now in bonfire and Brunswick Stew season. Here in Virginia, the weather sets a beautiful stage for a great Thanksgiving. If you remember your U.S. History, you know Virginia is also where the very first Thanksgiving took place.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all and the stress that comes with the season. Getting pulled in so many directions, and having to please so many people can get us a bit frustrated and on edge. Maybe you’re worried about what to cook. Maybe your house feels out of sorts. You ask yourself How will I ever get it all together? Will they like what I made? Will they bring food to share or is this whole event going to fall on me?

Somewhere along the line, we can forget that our time together with family and friends is meant to bring glory to our God from Whom all blessings flow. This Thanksgiving season, put your focus on the Lord. Stop still… no talking… no music… no input; just you and the Big Man, just you and our dear heavenly Father. Take time to tell Him how much you love Him, how much you appreciate Him, how much He’s done for you. Even if you’re in the middle of a trial right now, you can still praise Him for the past things He’s done for you.

Enjoy your family and make a point to let every moment point to God. Even on Black Friday.
