“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
Psalm 143:8, ESV

Feeling a little unsure? Like God is just making this thing up as you go along? No, girl. You were born with a purpose. Seeing that purpose come to pass requires a little thing we like to call step-by-step obedience. My friend used to tell her teenagers, “Understanding is not a prerequisite to obedience.” You don’t have to get it to get going. Don’t have the big picture yet? That’s okay. You can start with an empty canvas.

A paint-by-numbers set reveals up front what the result will look like. The box top promises this textured art board will boast Adirondack Chairs by a Lake at Sunset when it’s complete. Before you fill a Dixie cup with warm water, pick up a brush or pop open the acrylic paints, you get a glimpse of the finished masterpiece. Not so with real life. The courageous reality for Wonder Women is pressing on with the project without having to know the specifics.

Listen, we have all been challenged with tasks that seemed impossible and overwhelming. There will be times when we’re going to be asked to begin a heroes journey without much to go on. It’s inevitable. It’s unnerving. God isn't trying to leave us feeling lost. He doesn't leave us at all. That is the truth that can make us unshakeable. That strength doesn’t come because we know all the specifics up front. Being dependable and undaunted happens because we are following the One Who knows how this ends.

The Master Designer of your journey has an assignment that only you can perform. Carrying it out will require trust, sacrifice, and obedience.

When you feel unqualified and wish you were given a picture – a map, remember -- He is walking ahead. All you need to do is place each of your next steps in His footprints.

Follow the Leader, Beautiful Superhero. Trust and obey.
