“I lift up my eyes to the mountains -- where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2, NIV

We all face battles – opposition in the form of life events or relationship troubles. Are you in the heat of it now? Money or health issues? Conflict with a co-worker or boss? Unruly child? Feeling distant in your connection with a friend, spouse, or other family members? Are you trying everything you know to fix it but nothing is working? Before busting down the doors with solutions, are we getting our orders from our Commander – or just doing what comes naturally?

It’s not wrong to want to resolve a turbulent relationship. Many of us, by nature, are fix-it people. We see a problem and our impulse is to identify the root, determine a remedy, and bring it to resolution. If you find yourself talking in circles, but for all your solutions, it seems nothing is settled, it may be that you were never called up to fight on this particular battlefield.

Sometimes God will give us strength to take on our opposition head-on. Other times, however, He will tell us to hold position. Life will present foes we were never meant to engage. Is God yelling, Charge! or is this the moment to hold to the promise of Exodus 14:14? “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (NIV)

We are not the heart-changers. Sometimes we are meant to let God do what only He can without us having to lift a finger. Just lift your eyes to the maker of heaven and earth – where your help comes from.

Wonder Women know when to armor-up, and we know when to quiet down and let the Lord do the fighting. We know because we get our marching orders from the One who makes us victorious.
