GOD > Your MOLEHILLS & MOUNTAINS
A LESSON ON PERSPECTIVE
Through my writing, I’m sure you’ve noticed I do a lot of traveling. Speaking and preaching all over the world, while raising a family, and running a ministry keeps me running. Sometimes on empty. Sometimes in circles. But there’s something about air travel that sets the perfect atmosphere for hearing God. I suppose it’s because I can’t do much but sit still and listen.
On my most recent trip, I gazed through the window of the plane, becoming fixed on the landscape below. I tried hard to identify the buildings of the city beneath us until each one disappeared from view.
Skyscrapers and mountains didn’t seem so big from my Row 4, window-seat perspective. I had to laugh when I imagined God viewing our seemingly insurmountable trials and troubles that way. To God, mountains are no more difficult to relocate or reduce to rubble as your garden-variety molehill.
As the plane took a forceful turn to the right, the geography I was gazing down on was out of sight. And in my eye-line was God’s glorious sun setting on an orange and purple horizon. God showed up and showed off for me to remind me to trust Him.
When we see life’s mountainous challenges through the lens of God’s sovereignty, power, and love for us --
The way we measure large and small changes -- It's all the same to God.
We will rarely use the word impossible.
We begin to live expecting miracles.
We can be joyful and at peace in all circumstances.
We are able to wait in anticipation of God’s inevitable working all things together for our good. (Romans 8:28)
Something my mom says comes to mind -- “Rosalinda, nothing is too big for God.”
That guarantee is just as true for you as it is for me.
Make Your perspective my perspective. Help me to be still and know that You are God of my every movement and moment. No trouble is too big for Your might. No one is too small to be within Your sight. Help me to believe how important I am to You. There is nothing You wouldn’t do to have and to hold me. You proved it when You sent Jesus to die so that my sins would never keep me from Your company. I love you, Lord. Thank You for loving me.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
